On my list is The Machan. Not too far from the madding city at all, located in Jambulne, about 17 Kms from Lonavla which is one of 25 biological hotspots of the world and a mere 2.5 hours drive from Mumbai or 1.5 hours drive from Pune, the Machan makes for an accessible weekend getaway. The Machan is an exclusive eco-resort with unique tree houses rising 30 – 45 feet above the forest, offering complete serenity to those looking to escape into nature. They have different types of Machans catering to different groups of travellers from Large Families to couples. This place looks very special to me, and its always been my childhood dream to stay in a tree house. You can indulge in Bird watching, star gazing or Trekking. The property has 4 kms of private paths as well as having guided treks organized for guests in the evenings. For the more adventurous, guided treks to the 1,000 ft. peak above The Machan is also organized for. This trek is recommended for intermediate hikers and apparently from a height of 4,000 ft. above sea level, the views of historical forts, valleys and expansive lakes can be enjoyed.
Do know that this place does not have Wi-Fi and the mobile phone coverage is also poor at this remote location. They also don’t have televisions or air conditioners. Both for obvious reasons. But what they do have is a spa as well as yoga sessions. so don’t forget to pack your yoga gear. The Machan has preset daily menus for lunch and dinner served buffet style. Breakfast is included.
If your looking to switch off and unwind, catch up on your reading or want to simply reconnect with Nature plan a visit to The Machan especially if you are visiting Mumbai or Pune, then you must make a detour and take a quick break here for a couple of days. I definitely plan to make a stop over here on my next trip to Mumbai. For more information on The Machan click here
